Daesung's first solo mini album D's WAVE and its Asia tour encore: what happened

Daesung’s first solo mini album — a short release of a handful of tracks — arrived on 8 April 2025 as D’s WAVE. The Asian tour of the same name opened in Seoul that month, ran through 11 cities and closed with a Seoul encore in January 2026 and two nights in Osaka in February. Two years in the making: eight songs and the title track ‘Universe’

Newsis reported that Daesung, a member of BIGBANG and a solo singer, released his first solo mini album D’s WAVE on 8 April 2025. According to his agency R&D Company, the album builds on rock-based band sound and carries an emotional, soulful character. Daesung spent two years preparing it and took part in the writing and composing himself.

The album holds eight songs in all: the title track ‘Universe’, along with ‘Beautiful Life’, ‘그 시절의 우리’, ‘Last girl’, ‘JUMP’, ‘Fly Away’, ‘Wolf’ and ‘Umbrella’. The title track carries a message about stepping out toward a better world. Daesung is credited on five songs, among them ‘Beautiful Life’, ‘그 시절 우리’ and ‘JUMP’.

The same day, his official YouTube channel DAESUNG released the official music video for ‘Universe’ — the title track of the album the tour would take its name from.

Out of Seoul and across 11 Asian cities

Daesung went on tour as the album came out. Newsis reported that the Asian tour D’s WAVE in Seoul was held at the Olympic Hall in Seoul’s Olympic Park on 26 and 27 April 2025.

According to Etnews, Daesung toured 11 cities from April 2025. The cities the report names are:

January 2026 in Seoul, then two final nights in Osaka

iMBC Entertainment reported that Daesung would hold DAESUNG 2025 ASIA TOUR: D’s WAVE ENCORE – SEOUL at the Handball Stadium in Olympic Park on 3 and 4 January 2026. According to R&D Company, ticket sales for the Seoul encore opened on 30 October 2025 and every seat sold out. The Seoul shows were where the 11-city Asian tour would come to a close.

The last dates of the tour were in Japan. Etnews reported that Daesung held DAESUNG 2025 ASIA TOUR: D’s WAVE ENCORE – JAPAN at Asue Arena Osaka in Osaka on 31 January and 1 February 2026.

After the tour ended, Daesung sent a message through R&D Company. Etnews quoted him:

“The long journey I have been running since 2025 to meet you all now comes to a full stop. Every moment spent with the fans was precious and happy beyond words”, “This tour could be completed because you were there”

“I will work harder so that I can stand in front of you and sing for as long as my voice allows”, “With the meaningful event of BIGBANG’s 20th anniversary ahead this year, I will catch my breath for a moment and come back to greet you in a form worthy of the big ‘dae’ and the sound ‘sung’ in my name”

The songs from the solo tour carried over to a group stage that summer. Asia Today reported that at the BIGBANG world tour XX : COSMOS shows held at Goyang Stadium from 21 to 23 August 2026, Daesung sang ‘Universe’, ‘WINGS’, ‘한도초과’ and ‘날 봐, 귀순’ in his solo slots. At those shows he looked back on the time that had passed, saying he was performing again “after eight years and eight months”.
