On 22 August 2026 the YouTube channel ‘DdeunDdeun’ posted Episode 116 of Pinggyego, titled ‘기념일은 핑계고’. Celuv Media reported that BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung appeared on it and talked about a range of things.

One of the things G-Dragon brought up there was ‘Geoje yaho’ (거제 야호). He was talking about a video that impersonated his voice, and the catchphrase itself had come from somewhere with no connection to BIGBANG. What follows is what he actually said, and the road the catchphrase travelled to get there.

What G-Dragon said on Pinggyego Ep. 116

Celuv Media reported that BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung appeared on Pinggyego, the series on the YouTube channel ‘DdeunDdeun’, on 22 August 2026, and talked about a range of things. According to the same article, G-Dragon brought up a video in which one creator, working alone, imitated RESCENE’s members saying ‘Geoje yaho’ through impressions of several different people.

G-Dragon began with how he takes videos like that. The remark the same article carried was: “I like it when it is funny. Even when I am the butt of the joke, if it is funny I like it.” About this one, though, the same outlet reported him saying: “It is funny, but the feeling…”

What he said next was about how closely the impression matched his voice. G-Dragon said: “What I do makes no sense. To my ear the others are somewhat close, but mine alone is too short and goes by too fast.” He added that he had tried it himself. The line the same article carried was: “I kept listening to it and tried it. I tried imitating the person imitating me, and it is funny, but it makes no sense.”

The day in the studio, as Taeyang told it

Celuv Media also carried the passage in which Taeyang recalled the moment. Taeyang’s words were: “One day he came into the studio completely bewildered. We could see what it was too, but it felt very exaggerated.” Of the video, Taeyang also said: “The way I saw it, that person imitated everyone else in order to do Ji-yong’s part.”

G-Dragon pointed at where his own part sits inside the video. The lines the same article carried were: “The order, too. It is not that it comes right at the start; it comes third,” and “The others are close enough that they really might do it that way. After that it is not much fun, honestly. Is it only mine that is like that?”

Taeyang said, “We just like it when it is funny,” and added, “but that day he really did come in serious and ask, ‘Is it this bad?’” G-Dragon added, “I could not bring myself to press like,” the same outlet reported.

Where ‘Geoje yaho’ came from

‘Geoje yaho’ is not a phrase that started with BIGBANG. YTN reported on 8 June 2026 that the line had become a meme, mainly on social media.

Its source is a YouTube video. According to YTN, a large part of why RESCENE — a group not signed to a major agency — was made a local ambassador was a line the Japanese member Minami threw out on YouTube. The scene the report carried is Woni saying, “You are going to Geoje looking like that? The people of Geoje will tell you off,” and Minami answering, “Geoje yaho~”

YTN reported that once the line became a meme, a song RESCENE had released 2 years earlier began a reverse run up the music charts. In the same report RESCENE visited Nojasan (노자산) as ambassadors for Geoje to shoot a video about the area’s sights, and Woni, who was born and raised in Geoje, said: “I am so grateful to be able to promote the place where I was born and raised.”

The two acts had already passed through the same channel — ‘집대성’ Ep. 117 and Ep. 120

22 August was not the first time the BIGBANG side and the RESCENE side met on the same YouTube channel. ‘집대성’, the show Daesung hosts, had both acts on within a month of each other.

Star News reported that on 24 July 2026 a video titled ‘안녕하세요리센느입니다잘부탁드립니다’ went up on ‘집대성’. According to the same article, it showed RESCENE’s members meeting BIGBANG’s Daesung, and when Daesung asked, “Aren’t you really busy right now?”, Minami answered, “Every single day is busy.” That episode is Ep. 117, and its view count stood at 2,712,898 as of 2 September 2026.

Ep. 120 of the same channel went up on 19 August 2026. It is titled ‘우리 캠핑 갈고야’, its guests are BIGBANG, and its view count on the same day stood at 5,118,396. Three days after that came Pinggyego Ep. 116. That episode, titled ‘기념일은 핑계고’, stood at 7,456,379 views as of 2 September 2026.
