The song
‘Deja Vu’ is the title track of Dearest, RESCENE’s second single album, released on 2 July 2025 at 6 p.m. KST alongside the b-side ‘Mood’. Sports Kyunghyang described it as a pop dance song of groovy bass line and retro analogue synths, walking the path of memory while waiting for a moment one will meet again some day; the album introduction says the same.
The lyrics are by 이주헌 (The Muze), 더풀킴 (The Muze), bay (153/Joombas), 최보라 (153/Joombas), 달리 (Jamfactory), 조은솔 (Jamfactory) and 최재연 (Jamfactory), and the music by mOnSteR nO.9, Lauren Aquilina, Marcus Andersson and Lara Andersson; mOnSteR nO.9 arranged it, and member Liv sang background vocals.
Reviews
Nam Kang-min, writing for IZM, said of where the song stands that “whether there are provocative elements or not does not matter”. At a moment “crowded with concepts that cross between the real and the unreal to stimulate eye and ear”, he wrote, “a head-on method that leads with an olfactory empathy of feeling, in the form most their own, is even unhurried”, and he closed the piece with the sentence “the moment of a RESCENE that keeps moving steadily forward has left an afterimage once again.”
In the April 2026 Monthly note for Idology, Binunmul (비눈물) looked back at the song as “‘Deja Vu’, which showed a lyrical, retro, analogue sensibility”, and wrote that on the next single that sensibility is “reinterpreted as the bleakness of a somewhat faded ashen forest”.
The chart
Sports Kyunghyang reported on 31 October 2025 that the song had been picked for the Peak K-pop Single category of QQ Music’s Peak chart for the third quarter of 2025 (1 July to 30 September). The same report described the Peak chart as a ranking that combines chart entries, number-one runs and a song’s saves, shares and downloads. The official music video and a performance version are on the group’s channel.
Idology named the song an honourable mention in its 20 best songs of 2025.
