The song

‘Pinball’ is one of the two title tracks of SCENEDROME, RESCENE’s first mini album, released on 27 August 2024; ‘LOVE ATTACK’ is the other. It is the record’s closing track, and its own music video followed on 21 September 2024, after a teaser the day before. A Japanese version was released as a digital single in January 2026. Writing for Idology, Yemi (예미) noted that the song was made under the lead of Andreas Öberg, who wrote many of SM Entertainment’s R&B tracks through the 2010s.

Reviews

Idology singled the song out in three of its 2024 year-end features. Yemi, who placed it among the year’s 16 best songs, wrote that “‘Pinball’ introduces RESCENE as a girl group whose vocal skill stands out”, and described the track as leading with “an R&B delivery that pushes and pulls the rhythm in a crisp-textured voice over minimal, composed synths”. The same writer read that choice as “a shrewd strategy that claims as their own an appetite for the vocals whose supply had been thinning in the current K-pop market, with the members’ ability and the company’s background added to it”.

Cho Eun-jae, writing about SCENEDROME for the year’s 16 best albums, called it a song “one could dare to name song of the year”, and wrote that on it “a groove-filled vocal swims over a sound spreading in a mysterious mood, scattering a perfume smelled through the ears”. Binunmul (비눈물), who wrote the year’s 10 best rookies, described its build: “it flows gracefully on an R&B rhythm, then at the end of the verse drops in an instant like a ball bouncing off the floor (‘I’m falling’), and bursts an exhilarating aural dopamine in the chorus.”

Billboard placed SCENEDROME among its 25 best K-pop albums of 2024, and Abby Webster, who wrote the entry, named the “blissed-out R&B of ‘Pinball’”.

What happened

In an August 2026 essay on K-pop generations, Idology wrote that RESCENE had returned this song to the charts alongside ‘LOVE ATTACK’ and ‘Deja Vu’, on the strength of the attention their YouTube content drew and the release of the remake single ‘Pretty Girl’.
