The record
SCENEDROME is RESCENE’s first mini album, released on 27 August 2024 at 6 p.m. KST. It has four tracks: ‘Lucky you’, ‘LOVE ATTACK’, ‘New World’ and ‘Pinball’. The album introduction explains the name as syndrome joined to the scene of the group’s own name.
It was promoted with two title tracks, ‘LOVE ATTACK’ and ‘Pinball’ — the pair the group performed on music shows, and the songs that returned to the charts in the summer of 2026.
The scent
This record’s scent is ambergris. The album introduction builds the record around the substance a sperm whale produces, telling it as the story of a mermaid who comes from the sea to the city in search of lost ambergris. In a December 2025 piece, The Fact set it down as the scent that followed the debut record’s floral.
Reviews
Placing the record among Idology’s 16 best albums of 2024, Cho Eun-jae wrote that RESCENE “left a deep impression because they imprint, through the theme of scent, an impression that could otherwise have blurred and turned vague rather than strong”. The same piece described the record’s weave — “across the album, a reverb that spreads like a scent answers well to prettily finished vocals over the moderate lift that R&B gives” — and called it “a fine example of succeeding at translating an olfactory sign into an aural one”.
Billboard placed the record among its 25 best K-pop albums of 2024. Abby Webster, who wrote the entry, began from the group’s name: “Living up to their name, which combines ‘scene’ and ‘scent,’ every corner of their first EP is infused with fragrant nostalgia and glistening melodies.” She wrote that SCENEDROME “is less sensory overload than a smooth spritz of perfume”.
Among the tracks
Binunmul (비눈물), in Idology’s 10 best rookies, wrote that ‘LOVE ATTACK’ “crosses a naturally seeping melody with a funky rhythm, maximising the immersion of the chorus and the dynamism of the verse”. Cho Eun-jae, elsewhere in the same year-end series, named ‘Pinball’ a song “one could dare to name song of the year”. Abby Webster heard in the opener ‘Lucky You’ “a regal elegance”.
The videos
Besides the official music videos of the two title tracks, the b-side ‘New World’ got a music video of its own on the group’s channel on 12 September 2024.
