The record
THE SIN : VANISH is ENHYPEN’s seventh mini album, released on 16 January 2026 with 11 tracks. The title track is ‘Knife’. It opens THE SIN, a series built on the motif of sin.
BELIFT LAB’s album introduction on Bugs says the record tells of two lovers who break a taboo for love and flee, in a world where humans and vampires live side by side. The form is borrowed from ‘Mystery Show’, an investigative programme that tracks the case. The 11 tracks divide into six songs, four narrations and one skit. The skit, ‘목격자’ (Mokgyeokja), whose title means “witnesses”, stages the testimony of citizens who saw the escape.
The voice of the narrations’ host belongs to the actor Park Jung-min. According to the same text the narration tracks were made in four languages, Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese, with the actor and voice actor Kenjiro Tsuda taking the Japanese and the singer Lars Huang the Chinese.
Reviews
Idology (아이돌로지) carried the record on 18 January 2026 in its weekly column on new releases, for the second week of January. The writer Quibbie named “the distinctive storytelling, which goes beyond a skit or two and inserts a number of narration tracks between the songs” as the record’s mark, and asked whether such a structure had been heard in nearly 30 years, since S.E.S.’s third album in 1998.
Quibbie wrote that ENHYPEN, “as befits a group that made a success of a webtoon original, attempt a far more full-scale dramatisation”. After noting that the investigative frame and the album’s weight as a whole could work both ways, the note closes: “I am all the more curious about the series still to come.”
Among the tracks
The album introduction presents the title track ‘Knife’ as hip-hop that lays sharp synth sounds over a heavy trap beat. It carries the confidence of the fugitive lovers who mean to turn the pursuers’ blades back on them, and the nerve to enjoy the danger, it says. Gaeko of Dynamic Duo took part in writing the lyrics of this song and of ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’.
The second track, ‘No Way Back’, is alternative R&B featuring So!YoON! of the band SE SO NEON. The label says it draws the minds of lovers in whom a resolve that there is no way back sits with unease. ‘Stealer’ is alternative dance pop with a Latin groove, and ‘Lost Island’ is a pop song about a brief happiness in the hideout.
Two tracks carry a member’s hand. Jake took part in producing the opening ‘사건의 발단’ (Sageonui Baldan), a title naming how the case began. Jake’s first self-written song, ‘Sleep Tight’, works the sorrow and guilt felt in a short rest at the end of the escape into R&B, with Heeseung writing part of the lyrics. The album ends with the narration ‘사건의 너머’ (Sageonui Neomeo), “beyond the case”, which asks where the two have gone.
Numbers
Circle Chart counted the record number one on its album chart for week 3 of 2026 (11 to 17 January). The title track ‘Knife’ was 38th on the digital chart the following week. The record was number two on the Billboard 200 and number one on Billboard’s World Albums on the chart dated 31 January 2026. That week ‘Knife’ was 90th on the Billboard Global 200 and 62nd on the Global Excl. U.S.
Herald Business reported on 31 August 2026 that the record reached number two on the Billboard 200 with 122,000 units. The Korea Times described it on 18 June 2026 as ENHYPEN’s fourth double-million seller and reported that it had spent ten consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200.
After it
Seven months later, in August 2026, came the second record of the series, THE SIN : BLISS. It went to a first number one on the Billboard 200, and eToday reported that its first-week sales passed this record’s over the same period. How the two records’ stories connect is set out in the story on THE SIN : BLISS.
