ENHYPEN's eighth mini album THE SIN : BLISS entered Oricon's Weekly Album Ranking at number one on the chart dated 7 September. Oricon put the tally week at 24 to 30 August and estimated sales at 189,859 copies. It is the eleventh ENHYPEN album to top that chart.
What happened
ENHYPEN’s eighth mini album THE SIN : BLISS entered Oricon’s Weekly Album Ranking at number one. The tally period Oricon prints on that ranking page runs from 24 to 30 August, and the date attached to the chart itself is 7 September. The same page puts the album’s estimated sales at 189,859 copies, its release date at 25 August and its label as HYBE JAPAN.
Korean outlets carried the news on 1 September, the day Oricon published the ranking. TenAsia wrote that the album sold about 190,000 copies and entered the latest Weekly Album Ranking at the top, and gave the tally period as 24 to 30 August. eToday set out that ENHYPEN have now put 11 albums at number one on that chart, beginning with the second mini album BORDER : CARNIVAL.
THE SIN : BLISS is the eighth mini album, made by the six members Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-Ki. The title track is ‘Bloody Paradise’, which MK Sports described as a Brazilian funk dance song that likens a couple who look only at each other in a crisis to a paradise.
Why is it trending?
This number one came in Japan, after Korea and the United States. eToday wrote that the album’s first-week sales of 2.09 million copies passed what the previous seventh mini album THE SIN : VANISH sold over the same stretch. In the United States it reached number one on the Billboard 200 for the first time since the group’s debut, a record set out in a separate story.
The Japanese result is not confined to that one ranking. MK Sports reported that the album took number one in three Oricon categories — the Weekly Combined Album Ranking, the Weekly Album Ranking and the Weekly Overseas Album Ranking — and also topped Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums and Top Albums Sales.
Figures away from the album charts landed in the same week. TenAsia wrote that the title track ‘Bloody Paradise’ reached the group’s own highest position on Spotify’s Weekly Top Songs Global, and that videos using the song on TikTok, counting the original sound, passed 550,000 as of 1 September. eToday wrote that the song charted in 20 countries and regions in all.
ENHYPEN published the performance music video for ‘Bloody Paradise’ on 31 August. TenAsia wrote that the video is built around the song’s Brazilian-funk rhythm and the six members’ group choreography.
