Who are ENHYPEN?
ENHYPEN (엔하이픈) are a six-member boy group under BELIFT LAB. The label’s official profile lists the members as Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-Ki, in that order, and gives the debut date as 30 November 2020. BELIFT LAB was founded jointly by CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment, and the official fandom is called ENGENE.
The name comes from the hyphen, the mark that joins one word to another. BELIFT LAB’s notes for the debut album, carried on Bugs, read it as members who grew up in different surroundings being connected, discovering one another and growing together.
From I-LAND to the debut
The group was formed on I-LAND, Mnet’s artist development programme, which aired for three months from June 2020. The seven contestants left at the end became one team, and on 30 November that year they released the debut mini album BORDER : DAY ONE: six tracks, with ‘Given-Taken’ as the debut single.
The album notes describe it as the story of boys standing on the new border of their debut, feeling the joy of having made it through and unease about what comes next at the same time. On 19 December that year Dazed placed ‘Given-Taken’ at number 34 on its list of the 40 best K-pop songs of 2020.
A story told in series
ENHYPEN’s albums do not stand alone; they come in series. In an article on 27 January 2026 Seoul Shinmun summed up how the group worked through the BORDER, DIMENSION, MANIFESTO and BLOOD series, taking on the concerns of youth — growing pains, desire, confusion about identity, the forbidden — inside a world of its own.
The BORDER series continued with the second mini album BORDER : CARNIVAL (‘Drunk-Dazed’) on 26 April 2021. The first studio album, DIMENSION : DILEMMA, followed on 12 October that year with ‘Tamed-Dashed’ as its title track; NME’s Tanu I. Raj gave it four stars out of five and wrote that its eight tracks also take “a step up in maturity”. Three months later the repackage DIMENSION : ANSWER added ‘Blessed-Cursed’ and ‘Polaroid Love’, a song Billboard later named alongside ‘TFW (That Feeling When)’ as the group’s TikTok hits. The third mini album, MANIFESTO : DAY 1 (‘Future Perfect (Pass the MIC)’), arrived on 4 July 2022; its album notes call it a declaration addressed to its own generation.
The vampire story came to the front with the BLOOD series. DARK BLOOD (‘Bite Me’), released on 22 May 2023, shares the thread of its story with the webtoon and web novel DARK MOON: THE BLOOD ALTAR, and BELIFT LAB said it sold more than 1.32 million copies in its first week and entered the Billboard 200 at number four. ORANGE BLOOD (‘Sweet Venom’) followed on 17 November that year, and Billboard put it on its list of the 25 best K-pop albums of 2023.
The ROMANCE series opened with the second studio album ROMANCE : UNTOLD (‘XO (Only If You Say Yes)’) on 12 July 2024 and continued with the repackage ROMANCE : UNTOLD -daydream- (‘No Doubt’) on 11 November. The fan song on that album, ‘Highway 1009’, is a track every member helped write and compose, as ELLE Korea reported in a March 2025 interview. The sixth mini album DESIRE : UNLEASH (‘Bad Desire (With or Without You)’) came out on 5 June 2025, and THE SIN : VANISH (‘Knife’), on 16 January 2026, opened THE SIN series about lovers who break a taboo and flee for the sake of love.
What the charts recorded
It took ten albums to reach the top of the Billboard 200. On 31 August 2026 Herald Business set out the run: ENHYPEN first entered the chart at number 18 with BORDER : CARNIVAL in May 2021, reached number six with MANIFESTO : DAY 1 and then kept seven albums in a row in the top ten. ROMANCE : UNTOLD and THE SIN : VANISH both peaked at number two, and the eighth mini album THE SIN : BLISS reached number one for the first time on the chart dated 5 September, with 98,000 album units.
At home, five albums have now passed two million cumulative sales on Hanteo Chart. On 28 August 2026 Herald Business and Herald Muse reported that THE SIN : BLISS sold 2,099,048 copies in its first week, making it the group’s fifth double million-seller, and TenAsia named the four before it: ORANGE BLOOD, ROMANCE : UNTOLD, DESIRE : UNLEASH and THE SIN : VANISH. In Japan, as Etoday counted, eleven albums since BORDER : CARNIVAL have gone to number one on Oricon’s weekly album ranking.
Stages and awards
iMBC Entertainment reported on 29 November 2025 that ENHYPEN played the Coachella festival in the United States that April, held solo stadium concerts in Japan in July and August, and met about 676,000 fans on the world tour ‘WALK THE LINE’, which ended in October.
According to the same report, the group received ‘Fans’ Choice of the Year’, one of the four grand prizes, at the ‘2025 MAMA AWARDS’ at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on 28 November, and with two further awards took three prizes that night. “In two days (30 November) it will be our fifth anniversary since debut. So this award feels like a precious gift from you, ENGENE,” the members said. They had already received grand prizes at the D Awards and at ASEA earlier that season.
A vampire concept, turned to blood donation
The vampire idea that defines the group reached beyond the stage. According to Seoul Shinmun, ENHYPEN ran a blood donation campaign with the Korean Red Cross for ten days, from 16 to 25 January 2026. It grew out of the vampire setting of the seventh mini album; 7,730 people took part in Korea, online and offline combined, and 2,109 at three donation centres in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. By the Korean Red Cross’s count, first-time donors numbered 1,031 during the campaign, against 54 in the same period before it.
A new chapter as six
The Korea Times reported that the group has promoted as six since Heeseung, now known by the stage name EVAN, left in March 2026. The six members’ first album, THE SIN : BLISS, had its title track ‘Bloody Paradise’ heard first at the ‘BLOOD SAGA’ world tour shows at Sajik Arena in Busan on 8 and 9 August, before release. The tour runs to 33 shows in 21 cities.
Released on 21 August, the album sold 1.77 million copies on its first day by Hanteo Chart’s count, and ‘Bloody Paradise’ took six first-place trophies on five music shows, the group’s first grand slam. The start of the new line-up is set out separately in ENHYPEN return as six.
The six members
Each member’s page follows a different path. The leader, Jungwon, is traced through his move from taekwondo to dance and the ideas he has brought to staging; Jay through the electric guitar, rock and his collaboration with the Japanese band GLAY. Jake’s page follows Brisbane in Australia, where he lived, and the songs he added to tour set lists; Sunghoon’s follows his years as a figure skater and the Olympic torch relay for Milano Cortina 2026. Sunoo is set out through the donations he has made on his birthdays and his work on his voice, and Ni-Ki through the dancing he began in Japan and the cover he released after Coachella.
What to watch
