Sullyoon's 1 year and 10 months of Saturdays: from her appointment as MBC's Show! Music Core MC to her farewell
Sullyoon of NMIXX hosted MBC's Show! Music Core for about 1 year and 10 months, from her first broadcast on 15 April 2023 to her last on 15 February 2025. She began beside Jungwoo of NCT and Lee Know of Stray Kids, and from November 2023 hosted with Younghoon of THE BOYZ and the actor Lee Jung-ha.
Sullyoon sat in the host’s chair of MBC’s Show! Music Core from 15 April 2023 to 15 February 2025. Star News carried MBC’s announcement on 6 April 2023 that she would host her first broadcast alongside Jungwoo of NCT and Lee Know of Stray Kids, and iMBC reported on 8 February 2025 that she was stepping down after about 1 year and 10 months. In between, the people beside her changed once, and her first day had a special stage. What follows traces the Saturdays between the announcement and the farewell, as far as the reports go.
6 April 2023: the appointment
MBC announced on 6 April 2023 that Sullyoon would join Show! Music Core as its new MC. According to Hankook Ilbo, it came about three months after the previous MC, Kim Min-ju, had left at the end of January that year. Sullyoon was to host her first broadcast on Saturday 15 April alongside the existing MCs, Jungwoo of NCT and Lee Know of Stray Kids. In the remarks Star News carried, she said: “I am truly happy and honoured to stand in the Show! Music Core MC seat that such wonderful seniors held before me. It is my first challenge of this kind, but I will show you something new and different every week, so please look forward to MC Sullyoon,” and added that she would “be the excitement of Show! Music Core from now on.” It was a seat she herself called her first challenge of its kind.
15 April: ‘Mr. Chu’ on the first broadcast
The first broadcast went out at 3:15 p.m. KST on 15 April. Newsis reported that a special stage by Sullyoon, the newly joined MC, would be shown that day, and MBC’s official YouTube channel MBCkpop posted her ‘Mr. Chu’ stage the same day. On her first day in the host’s chair, Sullyoon was on the stage as well.
From November 2023: three hosts, with Younghoon and Lee Jung-ha
According to iMBC, Younghoon of THE BOYZ and the actor Lee Jung-ha joined Show! Music Core as MCs in November 2023 and hosted with Sullyoon for about 1 year and 3 months. The same report wrote that over about 1 year and 10 months Sullyoon led the programme alongside Jungwoo of NCT, Lee Know of Stray Kids, Younghoon of THE BOYZ and Lee Jung-ha. The hosting that began with Jungwoo and Lee Know carried on with Younghoon and Lee Jung-ha.
15 February 2025: the farewell
iMBC reported on 8 February 2025 that Younghoon, Lee Jung-ha and Sullyoon would leave the Show! Music Core MC seats after the broadcast of 15 February. The last broadcast went out at 3:15 p.m. KST on 15 February. Sullyoon said: “Thank you to the production staff and the fans who always welcomed me warmly and watched over me kindly. I was so happy to learn and grow every Saturday on Show! Music Core. It is a pity, but I will keep showing you more and better sides of me as Sullyoon of NMIXX. Once again, thank you sincerely.” Sports Seoul looked back in November that year and wrote that Sullyoon had shown her hosting ability over about two years as Show! Music Core MC from 2023.
