WayV's Eighth Mini Album 'Vision Wings': Seven Tracks Over a Guzheng Line

What happened

WayV’s eighth mini album Vision Wings arrived at 6 p.m. KST on 10 August 2026. Announcing the release, Munhwa Ilbo reported that the music would go up on the music services at that hour, that the physical album would come out the same day, and that pre-orders would open on 20 July at online and offline record shops. The album carries seven tracks, including Chinese and English versions of the title track.

The title track is ‘鸢 (Vision Wings)’. Herald Muse reported that it “combines a hip-hop sound built on a jungle beat with the line of the guzheng, a traditional Chinese string instrument”. The character ‘鸢’ in the title means a kite, the bird, and the image of it climbing through a storm is set against a conviction that does not waver.

The seven tracks take their keywords from Chinese characters too. According to Munhwa Ilbo, six characters that share a pronunciation and differ in meaning — 鸢 (kite), 源 (source), 圆 (wholeness), 元 (beginning), 愿 (wish) and 园 (paradise) — are placed one to a song. A listening party was held in Guangzhou, China on release day, the same outlet reported.

Why is it trending?

The album puts forward the sound of the place the team has long worked from. Newsen wrote that the record leads with a Chinese-speaking-world identity, and reported that in the comeback trailer “Kun, Ten, Xiaojun, Hendery and Yangyang appear as warriors of differing character, previewing the world of the album”.

Stages ran on either side of the release. Tenasia reported that ahead of the album the group was to appear at SummerStage, the festival in New York’s Central Park, on 2 August local time. According to Herald Muse, the third concert tour, 2026 WayV CONCERT TOUR [BORN THIS Way], opens on 12 to 13 September at KBS Arena in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, and travels to several Asian cities from there.
